A large CoolCabana provides more than double the shade. A large beach umbrella is typically 2m in diameter, which provides 3.1m2 of shade, less than half of the 5.8m2 of shade from a large CoolCabana.

Product Information
A Large CoolCabana opens to 2.4 m x 2.4 m, providing 5.76 m² of shade. That is more than double the shade of a standard 1.8 m beach umbrella, which typically provides around 2.6 m².
A Medium CoolCabana opens to 2 m x 2 m, providing 4 m² of shade.
Yes. The CoolCabana fabric provides UPF 50+ shade that significantly reduces UV exposure, blocking 98% of UV rays. We test our fabrics at least annually with leading third-party testing services, SGS and TÜV.
For full UV protection, health authorities recommend combining shade with other sun-safe habits: wear sun-protective clothing, a brimmed hat and wrap-around sunglasses, and apply broad-spectrum sunscreen.
We typically recommend a Large for families or groups of three and above. A Medium is ideal for one to two people.
It is worth knowing that while the Large is only about 7 cm longer than the Medium when packed up, it provides 45% more shade when open. That extra coverage makes a real difference on a full beach day.
If you are deciding between the two, we almost always suggest going with the Large. The weight difference is 1.5 kg and the additional shade is well worth it.
Every CoolCabana purchase includes:
- Your CoolCabana
- Middle pole(s). The Large uses one middle pole, the Medium uses two middle poles.
- Sand spike, for anchoring the centre pole into sand
- Ergonomically designed carry bag with a shoulder strap
Setup instructions are stitched to the inside of the carry bag for easy reference. No additional tools or equipment are needed for beach use.
If you want to use your CoolCabana on grass, you will need the Grass Kit (sold separately), which includes specially designed pegs, a hammer and a grass spike.
